The Buidling is part of a series of new institutional buildings in Berlin Adlershof,
a campus that is situated on the outskirts of Berlin.
The institute basically adapts the ortogonality of the street grid, but varies within
this by cut-outs and views. The usage ( laboratories, offices and lecture halls ) is
interconnected as a network with a centralized access.
The result of a smart programatic composition are short distances and a good
orientation. The spaces are furthermore arranged around several courtyards that provide
natural light throughout the building and are extensively greened.
Much of the building is constructed in visual concrete on interiors and exteriors,
combined with that the architects added metal and wood as main materials.

vegetation.
•
rainwater is used and integrated
as cooling factor.
Its furthermore collected and
used to irrigate the vegetation
•
bamboo has been structually
integrated into the facade to
carry the vegetation
